Parry, parry, thrust, thrust, GOOOOOD! Today is a special day. I was recently driving down the backcountry of Arkansas when the original version came on the radio and after doing some musings and malarkey-grade research back at the cabin, I found that there are two equally solid covers. As such, today’s song of the day is three different versions of the same amazing jingle.
- The original (and an incredible song for rolling down the backwoods of the Arkansas byway): it’s Dixieland Delight by Alabama. Also, the beards in the music video are exquisite.
- The slow moving, beautifully done, twangy cracker cover: Dixieland Delight by Old Crow Medicine Show (Alabama Cover).
- And the fast moving, beautifully done, super predator cover (did I mention that I recently spent some time in Clinton-stronghold Arkansas?): Dixieland Delight by Dee Jay Silver and Nappy Roots (Alabama Cover).
BONUS SONG: It’s the Rent Is Too Damn High anthem by Jimmy McMillan.
