GOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNINGGGGGGGG FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY! It’s a damn fine day to be an American citizen, A DAMN FINE DAY!
Given I’m in such high spirits, today is a three-song day.
The first song of the day is a bit of a deep cut for this artist but it’s solid and the music video is exceptionally vintage. It’s Dead Ringer for Love by Meat Loaf ft. Cher. Michael Aday reminds me of Chris Farley so much in this video. Speaking of which, if you’re a fan of Chris Farley, catch the 95 minute documentary on him on YouTube titled I am Chris Farley. Perhaps you don’t like his comedy, but he was a lovable, kind-hearted person to be sure.
The second song of the day was shared with me by the Meditative Mandarin. A good song with a solid underlying beat/rhythm (confirmed by my black friend). It’s Bang by AJR.
The final song of the day is a throwback. For those of you who don’t know me, I hate receiving voicemails. To discourage such behavior, during my younger years, I used to set my voicemail intro (i.e., “hello, you’ve reached the disillusioned dilettante, please leave a message after the beep”) to be as long as possible. And for a few years, I’d literally sing entire 2-3 minute songs as my voicemail intro and people would be forced to listen to a rendition of Disney songs or oldies for 2-3 minutes if they wanted to leave me a message. I’d switch up the song every 3-4 months and it deterred a lot of bad behavior by wood-be voicemail scoundrels. One of the songs I sang – the entire 3 minutes – was I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) by The Four Tops. Fuck it. I also sang Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations for a few months as well.
I was a troubled child…
Meat Load is quickly becoming my spirit animal.
