This is going to be short and sweet. If you have an interest in organized religion, particularly Mormonism, and you enjoyed Into the Wild and Into Thin Air, you’ll love this book. Written in his typical style of transitioning back and forth in time and drawing together multiple human stories and concepts, it’s classic Krakauer. Very interesting background on a religion that was founded less than 200 years ago and already has in excess of 16 million followers. JK also does a good job of putting religion (not spirituality) in its place. If you’re going to read it, get a recently published version that has the response from Church of LDS in the appendix – it’s gold, Jerry, GOLD!
