I know, I know: two posts “of the day” isn’t kosher. But still, I’m 100% ready to ballyhoo the fuck out of these views and this outdoor space (as well as the master bedroom and washroom). Save for the vertiginous drops, I’m absolutely in love with the outdoors, particularly the cypress trees on the property. If you haven’t been, I implore you to visit Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey, California – some of the best scenery in the country.
Some of you will recognize this as the house from Basic Instinct, and you’re right! The home has a main lodge and four smaller “cottages” on a site of over 4 acres. The property, known as the Seven Coves of Spindrift and set among a mature cypress forest, is on the market for $52 million. Each of the four cottages features monolithic stone fireplaces with 14,000 pound hearthstones, 8,000 pound mantels, and French oak floors. They sit on oceanside cliffs looking down in elevation approximately 100 feet to the waves below. Together, all five properties comprise 12 bedrooms, and more than 17,000 square feet of living space.
